A dance-floor set
Songs the room already knows, played live, with originals dropped in where they earn the slot. Not a track show.

Elk Grove, California · Honky-tonk
California country with the dirt still on it.

Founded by front man Shawn Wrangler. Classic country and the Bakersfield sound, played for a dance floor.
The story
The Grant Line Playboys are a four-piece honky-tonk band from Elk Grove, California, fronted by Shawn Wrangler. The set is built for a floor: Merle Haggard and the Bakersfield bite, Hank Williams, Travis Tritt, Waylon, Chris Stapleton, and Jason Isbell when the room goes quiet — plus originals that have already been played in public, including Deep Lines, Family Values, and Cold, Lonesome & Still. Shawn sings and plays acoustic guitar, Gary Blodgett plays electric, Michael Williams plays bass, and Steven Michael Martin plays drums. Home rooms include South Slope Wines, Flatland Brewing, and Waterman Brewing. The show has already reached The Brass Tap in Hollister and the California State Fair Promenade Stage.
Shawn Wrangler grew up on his grandfather’s farm in Wilton, California. The records in that house were the Bakersfield Sound, Johnny Horton, Patsy Cline, George Jones, Marty Robbins, early bluegrass, and Sun-era Elvis. He sings, plays rhythm guitar, and writes. On his own booking page he calls himself a honky-tonk ramblin’ man with a constant song in his head. FOX40’s Studio 40 had him on August 14, 2018, playing a homegrown country song, and the station used the line he still carries: the new face of California country music.
To book Shawn Wrangler for a solo gig visit: Shawn Wrangler’s EPK.
Along with performing many of country’s greatest honky-tonk classics, Shawn writes, composes, and performs many of his own original songs. Family Values, an original of Shawn’s (co-written with Cole Hinkle), can be listened to anywhere music is streamed and is a crowd favorite for the Grant Line Playboys to perform live. Some of his other originals are Counting Down the Hours, Deep Lines, Cold, Lonesome & Still, Latter-Day Lineman, and Cheap Hotels. Although Family Values is the only original currently released, Shawn is in the studio polishing an album planned for summer 2027.

Lead vocal, acoustic guitar
Grew up on his grandfather’s farm in Wilton, on the Bakersfield records, Johnny Horton, Patsy Cline, George Jones, Marty Robbins, early bluegrass, and Sun-era Elvis. He sings, plays rhythm guitar, and writes — he calls it a honky-tonk ramblin’ man with a song already in his head. FOX40 put him on Studio 40 in August 2018 and introduced him as the new face of California country music. Originals on the public record include Deep Lines, Cheap Hotels, and Cold, Lonesome & Still. He fronts this band out of Elk Grove, and the covers run from Hank Williams III and Sturgill Simpson back to Merle.

Shawn has recently fallen in love with busking. He loves the adventure and creativity that comes with it. There’s almost no place off bounds, so who knows what spot might be next. A few of his favorite places to busk are Dust Bowl Brewing Co. in Elk Grove and the DOCO district in downtown Sacramento.
